The Berkeley "Preservation Team"
NOTE: These are NOT board positions!
Simply put: the PRESERVATION TEAM is designed to engage the specific talents and expertise within our membership to actively manage many of the club’s ongoing vital activities.
It is comprised of dedicated, volunteer “Captains" and passionate members.... who just want to help out!
Want to get involved? Email one our Team Captains... listed below!
2023 Captain: CARLTON DANIELS
At the end of the day, we all love a pristine clay court...right?? While some may believe "magic elves" live behind the clubhouse, most of us know it takes very committed individuals as problem-solvers to make a difference. Up for the challenge?
Community Engagement & Strategic Partnerships
2023 Captain: TBD
Community is the lifeblood of any great organization. Berkeley has engaged community partners to expand tennis to as many folks as possible... especially in underserved and under-supported communities. Additionally, our senior community, local schools and various non-profit organizations provide BTC with unique and ongoing engagement opportunities.
2023 Co-Captains: FELICIA NASH-WEISS and ART LOWE
Berkeley is legendary for its warm and friendly atmosphere. Our signature "patio hangs" and special events are fueled by a small group of volunteers dedicated to keeping that tradition alive and well!
If you are a "people person" and enjoy special event preparation while engaging with other passionate members of our community... this is for you!
2023 Captain: JEANNINE REDD
While related to our Grounds Team, Facilities is the "heart and soul" of our daily tennis experience. The general upkeep and appearance of the clubhouse, equipment shed, and green spaces are a source of pride... want to help?
Grants and Fundraising
2023 Co-Captains: Matthew Mehr & Art Fredman
Whether its a USTA grant or other funding sources for historic organizations, Berkeley remains a prime candidate for acquiring this type of support. If you are experienced with RFPs, fundraising and/or grant writing, we would welcome your input!
2023 Captain: ROBIN BOHAN
Do you have a passion for people? Want to share your love of Berkeley with new and prospective members? Since 2020, Mike Griot's "BTC match-making" efforts have been enthusiastically received by new and returning members alike.
Join Robin and the Member Success Team... and help ensure everyone has the best BTC experience possible!

Featured Volunteer: Joanne Mayberry
Hello fellow Berkeley Tennis Club members!
My name is Joanne Mayberry and I've been a member of Berkeley since 2020. I have met many of you since then, mostly on the court, and enjoyed some great tennis!
What you may not know about me is that I am a Physical Therapist in my "other life” off the courts.
I have worked as a physical therapist in a variety of clinical settings for more than 30 years. For the last 10 years, I have worked for Kessler Rehabilitation Center in West Orange (across from the Turtle Back Zoo) and treat people with orthopedic, post surgical and sports related injuries. More importantly, I know first hand what it feels like to have a sore knee, back pain, tennis elbow …etc, but feel fortunate that I have the knowledge to know what to do to prevent these problems from getting worse in order to continue to play tennis and enjoy many other activities in my life.
In tune to “Building a Better Berkeley”, I wanted to provide an avenue to which you can contact me for a free fitness screening or just to ask a question about something that you are struggling with on/off the court. You can text or call me at 908-577-1998 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. We can chat and go from there!
Look forward to a great season!
Berkeley Member since 2020
