Berkeley Tennis Club, in partnership with the United States Tennis Association (USTA) has been awarded private competitive grants since 2014. These include the following:

'Grow the Game" grants: Beginners and Intermediate players from surrounding communities, including Newark, Jersey City, Irvington, Orange, South Orange, Millburn, and others, received summer-long instruction in tennis and training and received racquets, balls, t-shirts,and lunch.

"Clash of the Clays," in which Berkeley Tennis Club has hosted clay club teams from throughout the region to a single day tournament. Among the competitors are Berkeley's 'rivals,' The Little Club, of Maplewood, and Netherwood Tennis Club, of Plainfield. USTA supports this event.

"Operation Orange High School Tennis," is an intermittent initiative where aspiring tennis players from Orange High School are instructed and mentored by Berkeley volunteers. Berkeley members work to develop student athletes in the local high school.

South Orange-Maplewood's Boys and Girls Tennis Teams often use the six Berkeley clay courts as their home venue, receiving top-notch oversight and welcoming from the Hospitality Committee. The athletes enjoy the special opportunity to play on Berkeley's excellent red clay surface.

Berkeley sponsors regular July 4, Memorial Day, and Labor Day 'open house' events. Notice is given to neighbors that they are invited to join us in tennis and feasting.
